

Biome Rescue

Biomes Rescue is a 2D platformer game prototype designed and developed using an agile approach (Sharma et al., 2012) in the GDevelop game engine. The game focuses on reinforcing the characteristics of biomes learned through lecture while adding new information about the flora and fauna of each biome. The game was designed to run as a companion activity to the introductory lessons in the Regions and Nations course. The premise of the platformer game centers on Missouri Joe, a human geographer, tasked with undoing the damage done to the biomes by the Sludgeking, an amalgamation of pollution and climate change. As Missouri Joe, players use their knowledge of biome characteristics to put the biomes back together and defeat the Sludgeking and his enemies.
